Enhancing your online presence
Having several online profiles is a good idea as long as you can keep them up-to-date. This increases the number of hits likely in a search by your name and scholarship. Here are examples of two profiles for HGSE academic dean Bridget Terry Long. The first is on the widely used resource, Google Scholar, that shows citation metrics and related works, and the other is her faculty page on the HGSE website.
Google scholar profile
The benefits of having a Google scholar profile are that it increases your visibility in a search of your name or your articles on this most popular of search engines. It also allows you to easily see who is citing your articles, and to graph citations over time. Google scholar is not a unique identifier system, but rather a profiling system integrated with the search engine.
